Lol at the headline, but let’s get serious. Colleges have ripped off millions of young Americans. Sure we can say it’s their fault for signing the loan, but that’s not the whole story. Like I always say, the world is Grey, not always black and white.
With the government’s help, colleges have screwed over a whole generation. Colleges can deliver a shit product and say fuck you pay me. They actually get payment upfront, and then Wall Street enslaves you. The same wall street donates billions to political campaigns, the same politicians with close ties to colleges. Well, damn, isn’t that a tremendous fucking racket? It is a big club and were not in it.
I don’t want to make this about forgiveness. I want to talk about the core problem. What is that problem? Let’s start with the fact that you can’t declare bankruptcy on your loans. If that were to happen, colleges, wall street, and the government would have to adjust their racket, probably for the better.
Thirty years ago, in the ’90s, college was affordable. Now costs have soared. So why have prices gone so high? Has the product of education changed? Not really. Hell, most things have gotten cheaper with the internet, especially education. You can learn almost anything on YouTube.
But the government has gotten involved. Oh great! You can’t default on debt now, so why wouldn’t colleges bend over a generation? That’s one problem. Here’s my second problem the devaluation of education. What I mean by that is everyone gets a high school diploma now. As long as you show up to school, have a heartbeat, and remember to breathe. But, don’t worry, even if you forget one of the three things above, the state will come up with some bullshit to still pass your ass.
In the past, earning a high school diploma used to mean something in this nation. But this is also the culture we have now; everyone gets a trophy, and everyone wins. So who cares if Timmy can’t read or write or think critically? He has a diploma. He won’t be left behind. But Timmy will, and Timmy has. So now what? No worries, the government will make Timmy equal. So let’s not help Timmy get skills. Just let the government help make him equal. Let’s push Timmy through a bullshit college degree and make him incur debt; that’ll help.
Little Timmy never had a god damn chance. He’s just a pound in a big game. Keep Timmy stupid, keep him working, keep him in debt, keep him not thinking. Because God forbid if one day Timmy does wake up and realize what’s happened and what’s happening, the jig will be up.
Colleges have gotten immensely rich off the Timmys of the world. If anything, we should take money from every college endowment and pay off student loans. Below is a just the top schools in the nation. Colleges have billions with a B. Colleges are all about equality. Let’s take some money from them.
Sorry, this was a written rant. Hopefully, y’all followed my thoughts, and this shit made sense. These were just my thoughts on shit. What the hell do I know? I pedal shit memes and video clips for fun. P.S I am not upset at people getting help in their lives. I am upset with the system as a whole. Because loan forgiveness doesn’t help future generations getting fucked.
